Randy Newberg, a hunter and TV show producer in Montana brought his video crew to the Southwest region during the 2012 third rifle season. His show specializes in do-it-yourself hunts on public lands in the West. The show, “On Your Own Adventures” airs on the Sportsmen's Channel, a cable outlet.
Newberg is a serious and ethical hunter and some of his shows end with no animal being harvested.
This year the crew hunted for a cow elk and deer near Hotchkiss. Despite four hard days of hunting, the crew didn’t even see an elk. Newberg did harvest a small buck.
In Gunnison, the crew videotaped an interview with J Wenum, Area 16 wildlife manager, and showed the process for buying a license.
The show is scheduled to air in June. This is the third time Newberg has taped shows in Colorado.
