Commission to Finalize Turkey Regulations

The Colorado Wildlife Commission will finalize turkey hunting regulations for the 2010 season and review the proposed annual changes to big game regulations at its regular meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12 in Alamosa.
The meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Inn of the Rio Grande, 333 Santa Fe Avenue.
Annual changes to the big game regulations will be introduced to the Commission. These changes will include season dates, limited license areas and manner-of-take provisions for bighorn sheep, mountain goat, deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, bear and mountain lion will be presented to the Commission along with changes to the limited license application and drawing process. These regulations are scheduled for final adoption at the January Commission meeting.
Regulations adjusting the nonresident big game license fees according to the Consumer Price Index will also be considered by the Commission. The 2009 Consumer Price Index decreased by 6 percent indicating a slight decrease in the price of nonresident licenses if the Commission approves the regulations.
The Commission will also begin a review of falconry regulations. The Commission is scheduled to approve final regulations for falconry at the March 2010 meeting to ensure compliance with newly revised federal regulations.
In addition, Division of Wildlife staff will give a report to the Commission concerning the DOW's budget.
