Wildlife Host Program - Colorado Division of Wildlife

Colorado's State Wildlife Areas are set aside to protect wildlife habitat, and for hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and wildlife watching opportunities. These activities, and Colorado's magnificent scenery, draw thousands of visitors to the wildlife areas each year. To provide the best possible experience for these folks, and to help ensure that wildlife areas are protected and used responsibly, the Volunteer Program of the Colorado Division of Wildlife established the Wildlife Host Program.

What are wildlife hosts?

Wildlife Hosts represent Colorado and the Division of Wildlife (DOW) at the State Wildlife Areas. Though duties vary from area-to-area, the most important service Hosts provide is information to visitors about pertinent rules, regulations, facilities and recreational opportunities in the area. Other duties may also include light "housekeeping" maintenance, and other tasks to assist the Division of Wildlife. In return, the DOW provides a site for the Hosts to park their recreational vehicle for the season.
