In Colorado - Everyone Can Help Preserve Wildlife

If you live in Colorado, you've seen wildlife – and what a sight to see! Hawks circling the plains, elk bugling in the mountains, bighorn sheep balanced on rocky cliffs, river otters swimming and fishing in deep canyons, trout jumping to snag mayflies.

Wildlife = Habitat ImageColorado's wildlife is important to people in our state. But today, as development continues to cover large areas of our state's land, we all need to join in to protect and preserve our valuable wildlife resources – by buying a Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp.

Since the stamp’s introduction in 2006, proceeds from the habitat stamp have raised more than $3 million each year and every penny goes to protecting wildlife habitat.

That money, along with grants from Great Outdoors Colorado and other sources, has been used to secure critical habitat in every corner of Colorado, from the eastern plains to the high country to the western canyons.
Small Stamp – Big Difference

By buying a habitat stamp you are making a long-term investment in wildlife conservation.  The good news is that a small investment on your part will go a long way.

If you buy a hunting or fishing license(s), you'll pay just $5 (a maximum of $10 per year) for the required habitat stamp. One day licenses are exempt from habitat stamp purchases EXCEPT if used to fish or hunt on a state wildlife area (SWA) or state trust land (STL).  If you don't hunt or fish, you can support wildlife by purchasing the annual habitat stamp for $10.25.  A lifetime stamp is $200.25

The stand-alone annual habitat stamp ($10.25) includes the purchaser’s contribution to the Colorado search and rescue fund.  This fund reimburses actual operating expenses incurred by local governments and teams during search and rescue missions.

So, consider this: For just the price of a couple of lattés, you'll be helping to protect land in Colorado for our wild friends. You can have your coffee and your wildlife, too!
