Statewide Survey of Black-tailed Prairie Dog Distribution and Status
Led by the Wildlife Conservation Section of the Division of Wildlife in cooperation with Colorado State University and technical advice from Mammals Research

Fixed-winged aerial surveys of the eastern Colorado prairie were conducted using a statistically valid design to estimate distribution and relative status of black-tailed prairie dog colonies during 2006-07. This effort was part of an overall Division contribution to assessing the potential classification of black-tailed prairie dogs as an endangered species within Colorado.
