
Mark Smith, of Center, is manager of the Meadow Ranch where he was actively involved in preserving 5,000 acres of wetlands. He has over 30 years experience in farm and ranch management with 26 years in the San Luis Valley. Being a member of Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society, and the National Rifle Association confirms his enthusiasm for hunting. Mark has served on many local and state committees including the Habitat Partnership Program, the Habitat Stamp Committee, and the Public Education Advisory Council. In 2007 Mark was chosen as Landowner of the Year by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. He was appointed by Governor Ritter to represent the agriculture/produce growers group.
