Stories Available from DOW for Fall Hunting Guides

Primarily for publication & hunter information use

Youth hunters and their parents.The Colorado Division of Wildlife has posted a package of Big Game hunting stories that media outlets can use as news items or for special hunting sections and reports.

These are general stories that provide basic information to big game hunters. Topics include: care of big game meat; what hunters should do if they make a mistake in the field; proper use of off-road vehicles; common violations, and more.

Photo Download Instructions


Below are instructions for downloading photographs from the Colorado Division of Wildlife Web site.

Go to the Image Database. You can search for images by category, or you can go to "Search Images" (on the right) and enter a keyword (using the "Keywords" box or the "Search All" box works best). Examples: "elk" or "hunting." (NOTE: It is NOT necessary to enter any other information.) Then, SEARCH.

A page of thumbnail photos will be displayed. Click on the photo that you want to use, and then click on the image size you want to open that image size in a new window.

There are 2 ways you can use the image:

  1. Download it to your computer by right-clicking on the photo; select Save Picture As; Name picture in FILE NAME field; in SAVE IN field select destination; SAVE.
  2. Copy the URL (picture's Web address) that is above the photo and paste into an e-mail. After pasting it, be sure to hit ENTER on your keyboard. This will activate the link (turn it a blue color) so that the active link appears in the e-mail message. The e-mail recipient can then click on the link to access the photo.

Caption information is included with each photo. Unless otherwise noted, please credit Colorado Division of Wildlife. .
