Impact Assistance Grants to Counties/PILT  Printer friendly version Printer friendly version

Ramah Reservoir State Wildlife AreaColorado Parks and Wildlife is committed to being a good neighbor in the communities where we own land in fee title for the benefit of wildlife and sportsmen. Each county in which we own land is eligible to receive an Impact Assistance Grant, which is based on the agricultural tax rate.

In 2011, (for tax year 2010), 52 of Colorado’s 64 counties received $252,052 in Impact Assistance Grants, based on 377,899 acres which Colorado Parks and Wildlife purchased for wildlife purposes. Since 1979, when 27 counties qualified, this program has provided more than $4.8 million in impact assistance.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife strives to make the process of applying for Impact Assistance Grants as simple as possible.  In January of each year, we send a notice to all county assessors where Colorado Parks and Wildlife owns fee title land, advising them that their counties are eligible for impact assistance from us. We also include in that notification the link to a special page on the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website, which contains instructions on how to apply for the impact assistance grant.

On this web page, county assessors will find a grant application for their county, pre-populated with most of the required information. Assessors simply enter the assessed valuation per acre of land and the associated mill levy, print and have the application signed, and drop it in the mail.

Applications by County

Applications are formatted as Excel Worksheet Files

Any county in which land is owned by the former Division of Wildlife is eligible to receive an Impact Assistance Grant. In order to receive a grant, a county must apply to the new Colorado Parks and Wildlife, but each eligible county has the choice whether or not to apply.
  • Please note: Effective July 1, 2011, the Colorado Division of Wildlife was merged with Colorado State Parks, creating the new Colorado Parks and Wildlife. However, this year, the properties identified in each county’s application on the website are only those properties owned by the former Colorado Division of Wildlife. This year, Impact Assistance Grants for properties owned by the former Colorado State Parks are paid through a separate application process.

  • If the information on your application is incorrect, please contact Larry Rose 303-291-7274.

  • Application may be delivered by U.S. Mail only. Do not FAX or e-mail application.

  • Please Note: Each year significant changes are made to the application forms. Do not use last year’s application form. This year’s form must be used.

  • It is very important that each county mail its abstracts and mill levy information at the same time as the application is mailed.

  • Application Deadline is March 2, 2012
