Workforce Diversity  Printer friendly version Printer friendly version

Three happy participants in an Angler Education Clinic. For wildlife, for people. Simply put, that's the mission of the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and we strongly believe that people from all backgrounds should have a voice in how wildlife is managed. We're committed to understanding and valuing all existing and potential customers and the dedicated, professional employees who serve them. Our customers, the people of Colorado, make up one of the most diverse states in the nation. Employees with different viewpoints and backgrounds better meet the needs of those we serve, and create stronger, more innovative wildlife management practices.

“The Division of Wildlife cannot effectively manage wildlife for the use and enjoyment of citizens of the state of Colorado unless our workforce is as diverse as the state is. Diversity brings varied perspectives which lead to new and innovative approaches to solving increasingly complex management problems. We cannot continue to be leaders in the field of wildlife management without a diverse and vibrant workforce.”
-Tom Remington, Director

"We deal with a diverse public with different ideas of how wildlife should be managed. The ability to understand different perspectives is very important. I introduce wildlife to people who otherwise would never be able to have those experiences."
-Vicki Vargas-Madrid, District Wildlife Manager

"We're cultivating future stewards of wildlife."
-Scott Gilmore, Angler Education
