The big game limited license application deadline is April 6. Licenses leftover after the initial draw will go on sale August 10 at 9 a.m. from license agents, Division of Wildlife offices, phone (1-800-244-5613) and mail-order. They will be for sale August 11 online.

This staggered approach is being taken to eliminate Internet sales from competing with in-person sales, for the first day. This process still allows non-residents to have access through the telephone and mail order, which would be the same as standing in line at an agent business. License agents also have the opportunity to be an active part of the sales process.

Those who plan to purchase leftover licenses at license agents or DOW offices should be prepared before they arrive. This will help the process run as efficiently as possible.

Customers who are planning on purchasing a license should bring:

• Driver's license;
• Hunter's Education Card;
• Social Security Number;
• Their Conservation certificate number or their customer identification number;
• The list of leftover licenses and
• A list of hunt codes for licenses they are interested in.

If purchasing a license for someone else, the buyer must bring the following for the hunter:

• A clear copy of both sides of a driver's license;
• A clear copy of both sides of a hunter education card;
• Social Security number;
• Their conservation certificate number or their customer identification number and
• A list of hunt codes they are interested in.

MAIL-IN FORM: Nonresidents and those who will absolutely not have access to license agents or DOW offices on or after August 10 will still have the opportunity to buy leftover licenses. This can be done by mailing in a leftover license purchase form. This form will not be accepted until August 1, 2010.

WHEN WILL THE LEFTOVER LICENSE LIST BE UPDATED? Once the new season's report is available, it will be posted as a link above and will remain static until leftover sales begin on Aug 10th. At that time, the online list will be updated every 15 minutes.

MILITARY PREFERENCE: Any active duty member of the United States Armed Forces stationed at any military facility in Colorado and actively deployed outside the United States, or any active duty member of the United States Armed Forces who is a Colorado resident and is deployed outside the United States, shall be allowed a preference for the purchase of leftover licenses. NOTE:  Each year the Wildlife Commission needs to reapprove the military preferences. This takes place at their May meeting. If reapproved, the military applications will not be available until the end of July.
